Keep Calm and Carry On

It's always fun to see something from World War II become popular again. In this case, it's the British propaganda poster, "Keep Calm and Carry On."
While wandering in my local Barnes and Noble, I found a bunch of merchandise with this slogan. They had journals, notepads, desk notes, gift bags, and more. I think it's a fitting slogan for these times of economic misery, one we need to keep in mind.

You
can find merchandise via Barnes and Noble or Amazon.com. For those of you overseas, check out this site.

So...keep calm and carry on!

Yes, I saw it, too, at our Barnes and Noble and I've also seen it on several blogs. Is there a significance to this coming back into vogue? I love everything about the WWII era except the war, of course. But wasn't that a saying even in the 40s? The war's not so bad except for the war.

I'm not sure why this is becoming popular again, Susan. This might help explain it, though:

Bonjour Melissa !
I am Alain Charpentier from Moorea in French Polynesia.
I do lot of research on airmen of the second world war, notably on G/C JR Jeudwine OBE DSO DFC.
He was a bomber pilot in RAF.
In december 1943 as Commanding Officer of 619 Squadron, he met Martha Gerlhorn who did a reportage on the men of Bomber Command.Few days before it was Ed Munro who came to the squadron .
He wrote an article and got the Pulitzer price fot making it !He flew over Berlin during an operation, the same night two other reporters were killed in the same operation...
I believe that Martha, was working for Collier at the time .
Do you know something about them; as I believe you do some research on the war correspondant ??
Alain.

Hi Alain - Unfortunately, I don't know anything about them, but I wish you much luck in your research! You might want to ask this question at another WW2 site: www.greatestgenerationsociety.com
